Our Lady of the Southern Cross Parish Prayer
Loving God,
You call our parish to be a safe community of love,
guided by the Holy Spirit
and committed to bringing people to Jesus.
Strengthen our sense of Mission,
that our words and actions may reveal Your Gospel.
Grow in us Compassion,
so we respond generously to every need we encounter.
Form us in Transparency,
helping us walk together in honesty, trust, and unity.
Inspire Excellence in all we offer You,
that our service may reflect Your glory.
Give us Courage
to listen to the Holy Spirit
and to act with faith and conviction.
As Your disciples,
help us grow through worship, learning, connection,
service, generosity,
and by leading others to Christ.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Pharisees went off and plotted how they might entrap him in speech. They sent their disciples to him, with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that you are a truthful man and that you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. And you are not concerned with anyone’s opinion, for you do not regard a person’s status. Tell us, then, what is your opinion: Is it lawful to pay the census tax to Caesar or not?” Gospel: Matthew 22:15–21
Reflection
Reflect today on the unity to which you are called. Do you form alliances based on personal ambition or on wholehearted worship of God?
Consider especially your involvement within the Church. Do your words and actions reflect the heart of a true disciple of Christ, or are they sometimes influenced by personal interests and agendas?
Commit yourself not to an agenda, but to Jesus. Worship Him, surrender your life to Him, and allow Him to unite you with other members of His Body, the Church. Such unity is the only unity that endures and bears lasting fruit.

Are you called to be a Life Group – Advent Connect Host?

Pre-order Advent Resource
Advent is on the horizon, being just over 1 month away. While our Life Groups will be hosting Advent Connect Groups using content from our parish FORMED subscription, we will continue to make available the Advent Resource produced by the Archdiocese of Brisbane.
This year’s resource is called “The Way of the Heart” and features daily reflections written by Sr Theresa Maria Dao, SPC, a religious sister of the sisters of St Paul de Chartres. Sr Theresa has worked with us before…. Each weekday is tailored for individual reflection and includes a short scripture text, a reflection, some questions to ponder and a concluding prayer.
So that we can order enough copies for the parish, could you please indicate if you would like to purchase one for your individual reflection for $5 (PLUS GST). Please register your interest by using this link: https://olscparish.flocknote.com/signup/228035 By November 15, 2026.
Book of Remembrance
A book of remembrance will be on display to commemorate our departed loved ones throughout the month of November. You may wish to remember your loved ones by offering a Mass for them. The November Mass offering envelopes are available at the back of the church. Please take one if you would like to request a Mass intention for your family and friends. Their names will be added in the Book of Remembrance.
Care and Concern Ministry
Our parish Care and Concern Ministry is here to support you with compassion and faith. If you or your loved ones are unable to attend Mass due to sickness, age, or mobility challenges, we would be honoured to bring the presence of Christ to you. We can arrange for someone to visit, share the Gospel, pray with you, and offer Holy Communion. You are not forgotten—you remain a vital part of our parish family.
Please contact the parish office so we can extend this ministry of care to you. Let us journey together in faith, hope, and love, even from home.
Our Lost and Found is filling up again! If you’ve been missing an umbrella, glasses, perhaps your favourite water bottle and so much more, please stop by the foyer and have a look. Any unclaimed items will be donated to the needy.
Pray for Peace in the Middle East and the World
Lord Jesus, Prince of Peace, look with mercy upon the lands torn by conflict – Iran, Israel, Palestine, Lebanon and all the suffering places of the Middle East and the world.
Break the chains of hatred and violence; soften hardened hearts; guide the leaders of nations toward wisdom and justice.
Protect the innocent, comfort the grieving, heal the wounded and shelter the displaced.
Grant to every person the gift of true peace – peace in homes, peace in streets, peace in souls – so that swords may become ploughshares and the children of Abraham may live as one family.
Mary, Queen of Peace, pray for us.
Did you know that every parishioner can access our parish subscription for free to Augustine Institute’s “FORMED” Catholic Streaming service, which offers trustworthy, high-quality content to nourish your relationship with Jesus Christ? We have received a report from Formed regarding the engagement of this wonderful resource by our parishioners and although many families are watching this Catholic content from more than 100 organisations to help explore their faith, many more could be taking up this subscription. Visit formed.org/signup to subscribe and select our parish, “Our Lady of the Southern Cross” to access these programs.
