Reflect today on the inner voice of God echoing in the depths of your conscience. Do you hear Him and respond to His voice? If so, do not be afraid to share your knowledge of God freely and charitably with others. Instead, foster a holy fear—one that draws you into deeper fidelity to God and inspires you to share His love with those around you.

A Heartfelt Farewell and Thank You
After eight years of extraordinary service to our parish—five years as a dedicated volunteer and the past three years as our Parish Manager—we announce the retirement of Judy Seymour with deep sadness, gratitude and appreciation.
When Judy first stepped into the role, the parish office was still in its formative stages. Through dedication, vision, and countless hours of committed service, she established the foundations of a professional and welcoming parish office, creating systems and practices that will continue to support our parish community for many years to come.
Judy’s generosity, faithfulness, and unwavering commitment have been a blessing to our parish. What began as a volunteer ministry grew into a vital leadership role, and throughout this journey she has served with compassion, integrity, and a genuine love for our parish family.
I wish to thank Judy (and Fr Baiyi) for her contributions in paving a smoothish path for my short time in the parish. Her leadership and experience have been invaluable in aiding myself in moving the parish to where it is now and hopefully into the future. I’m also appreciative of the time and effort Judy spent on the renovations to the Parish Office. I will miss you very much as a sounding board and a collaborator in ministry. Thank you for teaching me to be a better priest and human being.
We extend our sincere thanks for the remarkable contribution made to the life of our parish and offer our prayers and best wishes for a happy, healthy, and fulfilling retirement.
May God bless Judy abundantly in this new chapter of life.

Alpha is starting
Got questions about life or God? Alpha is a place to explore life, faith and meaning in a relaxed, friendly space. There is no pressure, no judgment, just honest conversation. Each session includes food, conversation, a short video, and time to discuss life and faith together.
Alpha is for anyone who is new to faith, curious about Christianity, returning after time away, or simply wanting to go deeper. Everyone is welcome, so come as you are and feel free to bring a friend. Alpha begins on Sunday 12 July at 10:30am in The Hub.

Penance (Reconciliation) & First Holy Communion 2026: Parent Orientation
Parents of children in Year 4 or above who have already received the Sacrament of Confirmation are invited to attend the Orientation Night at Our Lady of the Southern Cross Church on either Monday 13 July or Tuesday 14 July, from 6:30pm to 7:30pm.
Children in Year 4 and above who received the Sacrament of Confirmation in May 2026 at our parish are automatically considered enrolled in the program.

Gabe’s Seminary Tour and Pilgrimage
Parishioners are invited to join a special pilgrimage to visit Gabe Guillaume at Holy Spirit Seminary on Saturday 27 June.
The plan is to meet at the Seminary at 10am. Parishioners are welcome to travel by train with the group or make their own way by car.
For those travelling by train, the group will catch the 8:09am train from Springfield Central, arriving at Banyo at 9:37am, followed by an approximately 18-minute walk to the Seminary.
Those driving can meet at the Seminary at 10am.

Seminary Magazine “The Paraclete” is now available
"The Paraclete" is the official annual magazine published by Holy Spirit Seminary in Banyo, Queensland. The magazine highlights the ongoing formation of seminarians, testimonies, and spiritual updates from the province. Our Parish is well represented this year with an uplifting article “Christ Centred and Spirit Filled” written by our Seminarian, Gabriel Guillaume as well as a beautiful article “Soaring in the Spirit” by David Thorley. St Vincent de Paul Appeal - How you can help this Winter
This winter, more and more Queenslanders like David (including those in the Greater Springfield area), are slipping through the cracks. With fuel, the cost of living and rental prices higher than ever, an unexpected bill, the loss of a job or a relationship break down can be enough to push someone into homelessness.
St Vincent de Paul Springfield Conference therefore urgently needs your support please by restocking our cupboard. Our food supplies are running very low and many in our community depend on it to get by. Right now, our cupboard is almost bare. We’re asking for donations of non-perishable items such as canned goods, pasta, rice, and any other staples you can provide. You can drop off donations at the parish office during the week or bring them with you to Mass each weekend.
Let’s come together as a community to help those facing tough times. Every donation makes a difference Thank you for your generosity and for supporting those in need!

Care and Concern Ministry
Our parish is committed to bringing the sacraments to those unable to attend Mass—especially the sick, elderly, or homebound. If you or someone you know would like to receive Holy Communion or pastoral care at home, please contact the parish office to arrange a visit. Let us continue to care for one another in Christ’s love.
A New Blessing in Greater Springfield!
Yesterday, we celebrated with great joy the first Holy Mass in Portuguese in Greater Springfield, organised by the Brazilian Catholic Community of Brisbane together with Father Francisco.
The Mass was celebrated at St Monica’s Chapel, located on the grounds of St Augustine’s College, and marks an important new opportunity for Portuguese-speaking Catholics in the Greater Springfield region to gather in faith and fellowship.
We give thanks to God for this important milestone and for the opportunity to bring more Brazilian families together to live their faith, community, and the love of Christ closer to home.
The Mass will now be celebrated every second Sunday of the month at 11:30 a.m., in Portuguese, at St Monica’s Chapel. All are warmly welcome to attend.
As this ministry continues to grow, we also invite anyone who feels called to serve to join us as a volunteer and help support this mission.
May the Lord continue to bless this mission and all those who are part of it.
