Our Lady of the Southern Cross Parish Prayer
Loving God,
You call our parish to be a safe community of love,
guided by the Holy Spirit
and committed to bringing people to Jesus.
Strengthen our sense of Mission,
that our words and actions may reveal Your Gospel.
Grow in us Compassion,
so we respond generously to every need we encounter.
Form us in Transparency,
helping us walk together in honesty, trust, and unity.
Inspire Excellence in all we offer You,
that our service may reflect Your glory.
Give us Courage
to listen to the Holy Spirit
and to act with faith and conviction.
As Your disciples,
help us grow through worship, learning, connection,
service, generosity,
and by leading others to Christ.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

“At the sight of the crowds, His heart was moved with pity for them because they were troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd.” — Matthew 9:36
Reflect today on Jesus’ divine compassion from two perspectives.
First, gaze upon His overflowing love for you. There is no way to overestimate the depth and tenderness of that love.
Second, allow that love to transform you, so that His mercy may flow through you into the lives of others. Do not hold back the love of God; let it pour forth freely and abundantly.
Let His divine compassion move your entire being, so that you may become a true instrument of His mercy—drawing souls to Him through the power of love and all-consuming compassion.

Alpha is starting
Got questions about life or God? Alpha is a place to explore life, faith and meaning in a relaxed, friendly space. There is no pressure, no judgment, just honest conversation. Each session includes food, conversation, a short video, and time to discuss life and faith together.
Alpha is for anyone who is new to faith, curious about Christianity, returning after time away, or simply wanting to go deeper. Everyone is welcome, so come as you are and feel free to bring a friend. Alpha begins on Sunday 12 July at 10:30am in The Hub.
To register your interest, please sign up after Mass or contact Victoria Laban at olscroster@gmail.com. We’d love to see you there.

Seeking BBQ Volunteers
Our BBQ fundraiser has long been a wonderful way to support our mission and connect with the community. However, volunteer numbers have gradually declined over recent times, and the responsibility is now falling on just a small group of dedicated helpers.
To ensure that our only fundraiser in the Parish can continue to run successfully, ie the BBQ held close to Suncorp Stadium for all major events including all NRL games, we are seeking additional volunteers to join the BBQ team. Whether you can help regularly or only occasionally, your assistance would be greatly appreciated. Tasks include setting up, cooking, serving and packing away. No special experience is required – just a willingness to lend a hand and be part of a great team.
We are specifically looking for volunteers for the next three NRL games:
Friday 26 June – Broncos v Roosters – helpers required from 4pm-8pm - we welcome helpers who can only work for part of the shift as well
Saturday 27 June – Dolphins v Warriors – helpers required from 1pm-4pm - we welcome helpers who can only work for part of the shift as well
Wednesday 8 July – State of Origin – set-up starting at 1pm - volunteers are welcome to help in shifts throughout the day
Please HELP by emailing our BBQ coordinator at olscbbqs@gmail.com with the dates and times you can assist. Many hands make light work, and your support is required to keep this valuable fundraiser going strong.
Gabe’s Seminary Tour and Pilgrimage
Parishioners are invited to join a special pilgrimage to visit Gabe Guillaume at Holy Spirit Seminary on Saturday 27 June.
The plan is to meet at the Seminary at 10am. Parishioners are welcome to travel by train with the group or make their own way by car.
For those travelling by train, the group will catch the 8:09am train from Springfield Central, arriving at Banyo at 9:37am, followed by an approximately 18-minute walk to the Seminary.
Those driving can meet at the Seminary at 10am.
Holy Spirit Seminary
487 Earnshaw Road, Banyo QLD 4014
This will be a wonderful opportunity to support Gabe during his formation, visit the Seminary, see the beautiful artworks within the Seminary and spend time together as a parish community. We will also have the chance to catch up with parishioner David Thorley, who is currently a second-year seminarian.
Please register using the button below so we can coordinate numbers and travel arrangements.
BYO lunch.
Care and Concern Ministry
Our parish is committed to bringing the sacraments to those unable to attend Mass—especially the sick, elderly, or homebound. If you or someone you know would like to receive Holy Communion or pastoral care at home, please contact the parish office to arrange a visit. Let us continue to care for one another in Christ’s love.
Calling all Springfield Parish Married Couples
A World Wide Marriage Encounter Weekend is being held in our Parish on 4-5 July.
This weekend is a weekend away, offering married couples, a special kind of "time out", a different kind of "weekend getaway". It is an opportunity to recharge your relationship batteries and more deeply explore the precious nature of your relationship. It gives you the tools to keep your passion alive in a gentle, nurturing environment, away from the pressures and distractions of daily living.
Fr Nev encourages all married couples to consider this meaningful opportunity to enrich your marriage. For more information, contact Lisha Rozario & Joseph Deasem, Phone: 0481 307 821, Email: qldbookings@wwme.org.au

Pray for Peace in the Middle East and the World
Lord Jesus, Prince of Peace, look with mercy upon the lands torn by conflict – Iran, Israel, Palestine, Lebanon and all the suffering places of the Middle East and the world.
Break the chains of hatred and violence; soften hardened hearts; guide the leaders of nations toward wisdom and justice.
Protect the innocent, comfort the grieving, heal the wounded and shelter the displaced.
Grant to every person the gift of true peace – peace in homes, peace in streets, peace in souls – so that swords may become ploughshares and the children of Abraham may live as one family.
Mary, Queen of Peace, pray for us.
Did you know that every parishioner can access our parish subscription for free to Augustine Institute’s “FORMED” Catholic Streaming service, which offers trustworthy, high-quality content to nourish your relationship with Jesus Christ? We have received a report from Formed regarding the engagement of this wonderful resource by our parishioners and although many families are watching this Catholic content from more than 100 organisations to help explore their faith, many more could be taking up this subscription. Visit formed.org/signup to subscribe and select our parish, “Our Lady of the Southern Cross” to access these programs.
