MASSES THIS WEEKEND
Greetings OLSC parishioners. This weekend (due to Cyclone Alfred), we have decided on one pre-recorded mass you can watch on Facebook at your leisure. We will schedule it at 9am as per our normal schedule.
This weekend the following Sunday masses will be cancelled:

Sun 11am (OLSC)
An announcement will be made as to whether a simple mass at 9am on Sunday will be celebrated if it is safe. This mass is completely voluntary, so do not feel you have to attend.
Please keep our parishioners, neighbours, friends and fellow citizens in your prayers and check on people during and after this unprecedented weather event. Stay safe and blessings over these next days.

9 March, 2025 - First Sunday of Lent
"Filled with the Holy Spirit, Jesus returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the desert for forty days, to be tempted by the devil." —Luke 4:1-2
As we begin this forty-day Lenten journey, take time today to reflect upon the sins and temptations in your life that need to be overcome. If you find yourself repeatedly struggling and sometimes losing the battle, it may be time to change your strategy.
This Lent, embrace the opposite virtue of the sins you are most tempted by—in an offensive manner.
- Choose kindness if you struggle with anger.
- Choose fasting if you struggle with gluttony.
- Choose generosity if you struggle with greed.
Whatever your struggle may be, turn to the virtue you need most and make it your focus this Lent. In doing so, you will be well-prepared to reject the evil one and his lies when temptation comes your way.
The Jubilee Prayer
Father in heaven,
may the faith you have given us
in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother,
and the flame of charity enkindled
in our hearts by the Holy Spirit,
reawaken in us the blessed hope
for the coming of your Kingdom.
May your grace transform us
into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel.
May those seeds transform from within both humanity and the whole cosmos
in the sure expectation
of a new heaven and a new earth,
when, with the powers of Evil vanquished,
your glory will shine eternally.
May the grace of the Jubilee
reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope,
a yearning for the treasures of heaven.

Jubilee of the World of Volunteering
Throughout the 2025 Jubilee Year, 36 special celebrations will highlight different aspects of Church life. For each event, a set of resources is available to guide personal and group prayer and reflection.

The Eternal Crown
Young Adults, thanks for an incredible night of conviviality on Shrove Tuesday! We packed our bellies so full that fasting on Ash Wednesday was more a relief than a sacrifice xD
But now, my friends, it is time to lock in and make this Lent count. Participate in our structured Lenten observance program where the acronym PALMS will guide us in taking things on and also in giving things up. Email Gabe (guillaumeg@bne.catholic.net.au) to receive your Lenten observance flyer.
Life Groups
It's not too late to join our Life Groups for our Lenten Program. We will be starting Lenten Programs in our Life Groups from Tuesday 12th March. Life Groups are small groups in which we share life together, bring life to each other, build our faith life, and grow closer to Jesus Christ. Our Lenten Program this year is “Restore - Lent with Sr. Miriam James Heidland” and is a healing journey turning away from what wounds us and towards God who heals us and makes us whole!

Every parishioner can access our parish subscription for free to Augustine Institute’s “FORMED” Catholic Streaming service, which offers trustworthy, high-quality content to nourish your relationship with Jesus Christ. Enrolment for the Sacrament of Confirmation is ongoing. Please download the All You Need to Know document below for detailed information.
To be eligible, your child must be baptised and in Year 3 or above. To enrol, please click here, and submit copies of the Birth and Baptism Certificates to the parish email here.
Preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion will take place in Term 3. This program is for children in Year 4 and above who have already received the Sacrament of Confirmation. Enrolment will open mid-June 2025.
Reco Rally is back this year from 6pm on the 28th of March at Lourdes Hill College, Hawthorne. This is an opportunity for young people to have a chance to have a deeper relationship with Jesus. There'll be Inspirational speakers, Praise and Worship and Reconciliation.
You might notice something different about our bottle drop-off area. We have recently acquired two larger skip bins to store your container donations which will be emptied regularly by a pick-up agency. This will mean a slight change to the way you drop off containers. Going forward, can you please:
- Ensure all bottles have lids removed,
- Ensure all bottles are put in bags
(bags are provided in the drop-off area if needed) - Place all bags in the white and green skips.
Please note that all glass wine and spirits bottles will be accepted by the pick-up agency, regardless of whether they display the 10c symbol. Please avoid donating probiotics yoghurt containers, 1L and 2L juice containers and milk bottles, laundry detergent bottles, and obviously no rubbish.

Continue supporting the poor and disadvantaged. Please bring your containers and place them in the bins outside the church, or use our Scheme ID number (C10063619) at any of the deposit sites around Queensland when you drop your bottles off.
